When your dog is smarter than you...

You will have her around you whining for days because you were to weak to let her get away with telling you what to do in the first place.

You will have her touching her waterbowl with her nails making a "pling" sound as soon as her bowl is empty, to make you fill it up again (and I'm sure I heard a "waiter!" in there as well).

You will have her reading Frida Kahlo and Pekka Halonen like it ain't but a thang and surf on your lap top internet, and before you know it, "you've" shopped for collectibles on eBay! What?! How did THAT happen?

What's hangin'?

One of these days, when taking the children at work to a park nearby to play, we discovered something funky hangin' in the trees. A pair of shoes were hanging high above, dangeling, clearly wanting to get down from there (All-Stars also I believe). I have to say that it's not the first time I've seen this interessting spring flower bloom from an unlikely place, but I'm happy I'm naive enough to have a jolly good time with the prank played on some poor drunk youngling.
Somebody later told me that actually it used to be a sign to tell people that there's drugs available for purchase there.
I'm pretty sure that's not the case these days though, and probably not on the middle of the open bridge that all the cars drive through to get to that neighbourhood, which is by the way one of the best in Helsinki. Then again, I'm an innocent naive one, and proud of it.

Treasure hunt!

When I was younger, before I became obsessed with eBay, I spent a lot of time looking for treasures at old record and vinyl stores and such.
Since I became a Michael Jackson fan I've loved the hunt for my collection, and eventhough I can't really say I have a HUGE one (everything relative), it's more interessting now that I'm a bit older and know the value of things, compared to when I mostly looked at how cool the vinyl cover was for example.
Most of the stuff I find is found on eBay nowadays, but I prefer the rush you get when you use a saturday in the local record store, browsing the vinyls, and find a treasure or two in the glass cabinet, that the seller has prices way below value.
On saturday after going to the gym, I thought I should go to the one store that I really like in Helsinki to check out what they had, since it's been a while, and I found real treasures this time; a Smile promo, A Dangerous souvenir box set, a Cheater promo and a Mystery pin from the HIStory tour. The souvenir collection is something I've been looking for on eBay for at least a year, so it was cool to find it there.

A deep fried weekend.

I know it doesn't look like it from the picture, but don't let yourself be fooled.
This has been one of the most unhealthy and relaxed weekends I've had in a long time.
Last week I got this cookbook frenzy that I sometimes get (and God know we have many of them, and I can proudly say that we use them more than most people whould do), and I bought my very first Jamie Oliver cookbook! Hurray! So it all started out pretty healthy; with one of the best Waldorf salads I've ever tasted, but it soon took off to new hights - I should have known; the book is called "Jamie's America". And that can only mean one thing: FRIED CHICKEN!
So on saturday we decided to make deep fried chicken for the first time in our lives, and ended up almost setting the firealarm off if we hadn't already moved it out of the fryin way. The first peices ended up BLACK and well, crispy, but when we knew how to do it right the second bunch turned out perfectly. And man were they good! The healty salad that should have come with the meal were left prettymuch untouched since it was compared to the chicken, well, boring.

Today we continued our travels in the US and A with baby back ribs and invited Simo's friend to join us. It was also really good, but took quite a while to prepare and overnight to marinade. But it was worth it.

Bon appetit!

New strength.

Oh hi! ...surfing on eBay too a I'm back in the groove and ready for action. Kidding.
Truth is, there hasn't been that much going on, except for that when I though I was getting well from my flu, I wasn't and needed lots of time to just float around in my own sofa-world. I went back to work too early and walked around like something from the set of "Walking Dead", and although I went back to work on tuesday after a day of resting, I had to leave early on friday.
So anyways, after going home on friday and resting, I started feeling a lot better already on saturday and met a friend from work. We went to my favourite chinese restaurant, since she's never had chinese and went bowling afterwords. Sunday was also pretty packed with program the whole afternoon. Simo's nephew had his birthday and we spent a nice evening with the whole family. It was really nice since I hadn't seen them for some events because of being sick.

All in all, NOW I finally feel much better, and I felt happy and energetic the whole day today (eventhough it's monday), and I can feel new strength flowing in my veins. Ah.

Gone with the...well, flu.

I haven't been on here for a while, and that is because I've been sick AGAIN. Quite frankly, I have to say that I'm getting pretty sick of being sick, and I can't wait for the summer to come when I don't have to actually care weather I am or not, or if my workmates will suffer because I'm gone.
Well, now it seems to pass, so after I'm done surfing on eBay (priorities my friends) tomorrow, I will try to update this site and me a good bloglady.
